Our Story
The heart of biking in Westfield, NJ since 1957.
Jay's Cycle Center began its journey in the early 1950s as a pet shop called Pet Land in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. One particularly persistent bicycle sales representative eventually convinced the Tintle's to dedicate a small section of space to bicycle accessories. To their surprise, the items sold quickly.
Recognizing an opportunity in the growing bicycle industry, "Big" Jay and Mrs. Jay made a trip to a New York City wholesaler and returned with a dozen bicycles.
Within a few years, they had expanded to bicycle stores in Plainfield, Westfield, and Scotch Plains. But with two children to raise and multiple stores to manage, consolidation became necessary. They sold two of the stores and made Westfield the permanent home of Jay's Cycle Center.
More than sixty years later, Jay's Cycle Center continues to serve Westfield and the surrounding communities, growing and evolving to meet the needs of our valued customers.
