Don's Old School Saturday Ride will now be starting

It's
that time of year again, and the Tour de France
is about to get underway! The greatest sporting
event in the world always gets us excited, and this
year is going to be a good one! With both the Gerolsteiner
and Quickstep pro teams riding Specialized bikes,
we expect to have some more good results to show.
To add to the excitement, Specialized Bicycles and
Jay's Cycle Center are hosting the first ever Tour
de France Celebration Event! There's nothing so
cool as getting free stuff, and that's what we have
for anyone buying one of these hot Specialized models

your cycling experience.
Ride the best, and get free stuff too!
Jay’s
LBI Ride a big success! Our 4th Annual
Jay’s LBI Ride went spectacularly well last
Sunday. Thirty riders showed up for our best ever
ride to the Jersey shore, and we had the strongest
group performance ever. The weather was unbelievably
good, and the winds were favorable most of the way.
Twenty-seven riders were together when we reached
the causeway to LBI, and it was a terrific sight
to see. All told, we raised nearly $600 for the
Arc of Union County!
We want to extend a special thanks to our terrific
SAG drivers: Jennifer Clark, Tom Ligotti, and Mark
MacCumber. You all did a spectacular job of keeping
everyone safe and hydrated. Also, a big thank you
to the rest of the staff at Jay’s who put
in extra time to help make this ride happen.
Look out for an article about us in the Westfield
Leader edition coming out this Thursday. And if
anyone has photos to share, you can e-mail them
to geoffreyclark@comcast.net
for public sharing.
Updates
on other Jay’s Rides:
Don’s
Old School Saturday Road Ride is now starting from
the shop at 8:00 (previously 10 a.m.). The usual
ride distance is 35-50 miles, with the goal of getting
back to Westfield by 1:00 pm. Contact Don Peer for
details: (908)419-6686
Jay’s Wednesday Night Rides are continuing
as usual, and we’ve been getting some huge
groups. We have designated ride leaders for all
rides so that we can accommodate various levels
of fitness and experience. With Johnston Drive under
construction for the rest of the summer, the rides
will have flatter, faster finishes. As always, safety
is the number 1 rule. Ride alertly and defensively,
call out holes and obstacles, and obey traffic laws.
Flashing taillights are highly recommended. Call
the shop for details.
Dr. Bonsall’s Wednesday Lunch Rides start
at 12:30 from the Westfield YMCA parking lot on
Clark Street. Mostly moderate pace and terrain,
approximately 2 hours long. Contact Bill Bonsall
for details at (908)410-9228
Helmets are REQUIRED on all Jay’s Cycle rides.
BikeJournal.com
Thank
you to everyone who has been posting their mileage
on BikeJournal.com. Our little competition with
our friends at Action Wheels Bike Shop is heating
up, and they’re starting to pull away from
us. There are plenty of you out there that are riding
but not logging your miles, so please post your
training and keep us in the hunt! Action Wheels
has also recruited more members than us, giving
them an unfair advantage. If you ride with anyone
who you think would like to participate, please
ask them to join with Jay’s Cycle Center as
their primary club.
Keep
on rollin'
